The 140x is for rapid material removal.
These plates are made of mono crystalline diamonds as the abrasive surface on stainless steel body made of 10mm think machined aluminium plate.
The atoma is a very high quality stone.
It s not as fast as the 140 but doesn t put deep scratches like the 140 does.
This particular coarse is a little more coarse than i usually need for sharpening purposes but i would imagine the higher coarse atoma stones will perform very well.
